Members of the public in Counties Louth, Dublin and Meath are encouraged to have their say on the proposed Braymore Wind Park as part of the public consultation process that will run over a three-week period from the 16 May – 3 June, 2022. There will be a blend of in-person and virtual events.
A public consultation meeting for Braymore Wind Park will take place at Clogherhead Community Centre on 24th of May and at Balbriggan Clubs Community Centre on 25th of May, both running from 2pm to 8pm and at the Village Hotel, Bettystown on 31 May from 4pm to 6 pm. Members of the project team will also host an online information session on 1 June from 7-8pm.
The proposed Braymore Wind Park is located off the east coast of Ireland between Dunany Point in County Louth and Braymore Point in County Dublin. SSE Renewables has secured a Foreshore Licence to facilitate surveys of the seabed at the site. Once operational, Braymore Wind Park will be capable of generating up to 1GW of renewable energy, powering approximately over 1 million homes and businesses annually while offsetting over 1 billion kgs of carbon emissions.
A multi-million Euro Community Benefit Fund will also be attached to Braymore Wind Park.
Braymore Wind Park is comprised of three major components: offshore infrastructure; onshore grid infrastructure and operations and maintenance facility. Leading renewable energy developers, owner and operator SSE Renewables, is proposing capital investment of up to €2.5 billion to develop Braymore Wind Park. There will be significant employment opportunities to support the day-to-day running of the windfarm. These jobs will be sustained over the operational life of the windfarm.
Representatives from SSE Renewables will be on-hand to discuss project proposals and answer questions from the public on the proposed wind farm. The in-person exhibitions and online webinar will offer members of the community a complete overview of the project. As part of the public consultation process, the SSE Renewables stakeholder engagement team will work with local communities and stakeholders to gather and record feedback and local information that will inform the project.
