Knapthorpe is a proposed solar farm with capacity up to 49.9MW. It is located next to our Muskham solar site. The site is currently agricultural land to the south of the village of Knapthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

We acquired the rights to both this site and Muskham in January 2023.

This site, if constructed, is expected to generate enough clean, renewable power for around 18,700 average homes*.

Project history and progress

As the proposed project is below 50MW our planning application is being considered by the local planning authority which is the District Council, enabling local people to share their views and opinions.

On 9/11/23 our application was refused by the Planning Committee.

You can view the application here by visiting the Council’s planning portal https://publicaccess.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/online-applications/ and searching under the reference 22/00975/FULM.

We have decided to appeal against the decision. All new documentation relating to the appeal will be available through the District Council’s planning portal.

Supply Calculation

* To calculate the number of homes this scheme can supply energy to, we look at the first year of generation and use OFGEMS published average household consumption figures for average household consumption.
