We own 117MW of operational onshore wind capacity at five wind farm sites in Northern Ireland. Our operational fleet includes Northern Ireland’s largest wind farm, the 73MW Slieve Kirk Wind Park which comprises a cluster of three wind farm sites. Slieve Kirk Wind Park overlooks the City of Derry and generates enough wind energy to power almost 65,000 homes annually, or equivalent to all the homes in Derry City and Strabane*. The fleet also includes the 34.5MW Tievnameenta Wind Farm and the 9MW Bessy Bell 2 Wind Farm, both in County Tyrone.

SSE Renewables’ Community Funds for its Northern Ireland wind farms have provided £3.2 million so far to 1,400 community projects since 2008, while the SSE Renewables Scholarship has awarded £1.2 million in third level bursaries from wind power to 350 students since 2014.
