SSE to hold public consultations for proposed variations to two consented wind farms
20 Jun 2025
SSE will hold two public consultation events later this month to seek views on some proposed variations to two consented wind farms.
The project team for Achany Extension Wind Farm, situated northwest of Lairg will be at Rosehall Village Hall on Thursday 26th June, from 2pm-7pm, and will be on hand to answer any questions on the proposed variations to the consented project.
Whilst the team from Bhlaraidh Extension Wind Farm will be at the Millenium Hall in Invermoriston on Tuesday 24th June, from 2pm-7pm.
Achany Extension was approved by Scottish Government Ministers in May 2023, and Bhlaraidh Extension was approved in August 2022. Both have been re-designed in light of challenges which had meant it was not possible to progress with the projects in their previous form.
The current operational Bhlaraidh wind farm has 32 turbines with a capacity of 108MW. The consented extension would see an additional 15 turbines erected at the site, subject to approval of the Section 36C variation application once submitted.
The current operational Achany wind farm has 19 turbines, with an installed capacity of 38MW. The consented extension would see an additional 18 turbines erected at the site, subject to approval of the Section 36C variation application once submitted.
Kirstanne Land, Head of Stakeholder Engagement – Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery, SSE Renewables, said:
“We are inviting members of the public to attend our consultations on the extensions, where our project team will be in attendance and happy to answer any questions on our re-designed proposals.”
