Viking Wind Farm spreads Christmas cheer across Shetland

18 Dec 2023

For the third year running, the team at Viking Wind Farm has provided support for those most in need at Christmas.

The team have worked closely with Children’s Services this year to ensure that over 60 children across Shetland receive a gift in for time Christmas.

Working with the local department story, Harry’s, children aged four months to 11 years old will be gifted toys and older children will receive Boots vouchers.

Julie Graham, SSE Renewables’ Community Engagement Manager for Viking Wind Farm, said:

“Here at Viking, we like to do something extra special in the community at Christmas which for many families can be a difficult and stressful time of year. Previously we have supported the local Food Bank, and last year provided Christmas Dinner Hampers and this year we are providing toys and vouchers.

“Young people are always central to what we do, we have worked closely with local department store, Harry’s, to provide the toys and Children’s Services have identified those children and young people who are most in need.  We really hope that these gifts help bring some happiness on Christmas morning.”

Elinor Thompson, Team Leader at Children’s Social Work, said:

“On behalf of Children’s Services, we would like to say thank you to the team at Viking Wind Farm for their kindness this Christmas time.  The gifts will bring joy to those who open them on Christmas morning.”
