Public thanked for patience during ongoing works at Pitlochry Dam

24 Mar 2022

SSE Renewables has thanked locals and visitors to Pitlochry Dam for their patience while the company undertakes a range of necessary works in the vicinity of the popular tourist attraction.

A number of jobs have recently been undertaken which has meant that, at times, the dam walkway has been closed.

Contractors are currently constructing a new footbridge across the dam which will allow visitors to cross the River Tummel away from any ongoing works.

"Pitlochry Dam is a very popular visitor attraction for locals and tourists alike and each year we welcome thousands of people to the site which includes our Visitor Centre.

We would like to thank everyone who is visiting us over the coming few months for their patience while we undertake some necessary works.

While at times some areas may be restricted we hope that they are still able to enjoy their visit to one of Scotland’s touristic gems."

Gillian O’Reilly Head of Heritage for SSE Renewables

The suite of works is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre is open from 10am to 4.30pm Wednesday to Sunday and will return to opening seven days a week from Monday 4 April. To find out more visit pitlochrydam.com.
