SSE, along with lead contractor Roadbridge, collected a highly prestigious Gold Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards in Edinburgh last week, for the construction of our Tievenameenta Wind Farm in Co. Tyrone.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit, independent organisation, with companies and suppliers voluntarily registering and agreeing to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
Tievenameenta, which is now fully operational, was one of just 160 projects to receive a Gold Award this year, out of a total of 12,900 projects registered for the scheme. It was also the only project based in Northern Ireland to receive a Gold Award on the night.
Back in July 2016, Tievenameenta was commended as an ‘exceptional and innovative’ construction site, when it was originally featured in the Considerate Constructors Scheme report.
The project received a score of 44 out of 50, including full marks for innovation in the steps the project is taking to protect the environment. The site also received high marks for the ‘exceptional’ work being undertaken on site in the areas of Care about Appearance, Respect for the Community and Securing Everyone’s Safety.

We were particularly pleased that the Considerate Constructors Scheme report noted the steps taken on environmental protection and community engagement. As with all SSE projects, safety was our number one prioirity, so we're proud that with over 100,000 hours worked on the project, we had zero LTIs (Lost Time Injuries) or first aid injuries
