Seagreen is a £3bn offshore wind farm development owned by SSE Renewables (49%) and Total Energies (51%). SSE Renewables is leading the development and construction of the joint venture project, supported by Total Energies, and will operate Seagreen on completion.

The Seagreen Community Benefit Fund has been established to benefit communities located in parts of Angus who have some impact from construction of the project. A total of £1.8m will be invested in local projects over the next few years.

The areas of benefit have been identified and includes the following local community council areas:

  • Carnoustie

  • Tealing

  • Murroes & Wellbank

  • Arbroath

  • Montrose

  • Ferryden & Craig

Each will benefit from £250k to help improve their areas and fund locally supported projects.

They will each also receive money each year to provide small micro grants to local groups.

Additionally, we have committed to providing micro grant funding to two additional areas over the next three years:

  • Monifieth

  • Monikie & Newbigging

Each area will work towards promoting their funds and some deadlines may be set for rounds of funding. These will be advertised locally and each area will be supported by the Community Investment team at SSE Renewables acting on behalf of Seagreen Wind Energy Ltd to deliver the funding in their area.
