£200,000 awarded to Dunkeld and Birnam Sports and Leisure Hub

1

This ambitious community project to create a covered multi-use games area was awarded £200,000 from the fund in 2021. As the “cornerstone” funder, our commitment allowed the group to approach other funders with confidence to raise the remaining balance for the project.

Officially opened in early 2023, the MUGA offers a wide range of activities, including netball, basketball, 5-a-side football, hockey, tennis, touch rugby and fitness classes. The facility, which can be booked online, is open to everyone in the local area, including visitors with pricing kept low (free for children) to encourage participation.

"Receiving the funding from SSE Renewables at the start of the process, and the fact that it was such a large proportion of the funds required, gave us such an anchor and confidence that the project would be delivered. We were able to go to other sponsors knowing that we already had substantial backing which helped attract other funders to the project.”

Stuart Paton, Chairman for Dunkeld and Birnam Sports and Leisure Hub
