SSE will host a public exhibition in Invermoriston on Wednesday 24 September to provide information about proposed variations to the Bhlaraidh Extension wind farm project.

The event, which will run from 2pm-7pm at Millennium Hall, Invermoriston, is a chance for people who live and work near the Bhlaraidh Extension site to meet members of the SSE Renewables project team, view final project redesign proposals and find out more about what happens next in the planning process.

Bhlaraidh Extension is an onshore wind project to be located on the Glenmorison Estate in the Great Glen and neighbours the existing SSE-operated Bhlaraidh Wind Farm.

The extension project was first approved by Scottish Government Ministers in August 2022 but was re-designed in light of challenges which meant it was not possible to progress the project in its previous form.

The consented extension would see an additional 15 turbines installed at the site, subject to approval of a Section 36C variation application which SSE Renewables expects to submit to Scottish Government planners later this year.

Ian Stewart, Bhlaraidh Extension project manager, said:

“Bhlaraidh Extension has the potential to play a significant role in Scotland’s energy mix, increasing the country’s energy security and delivering clean energy to the national grid.

“We are looking forward to speaking with people who live and work in the neighbouring area about our proposals. This is also a great opportunity for anyone who has questions about the project, and what it might mean for them, to discuss things with members of the project team.”
